WELCOME TO VIETNAM HIGHLANDS TRAIL BY UTMB®
Welcome to Dalat – Lam Dong, the gateway to Vietnam’s Central Highlands and home of Vietnam Highlands Trail by UTMB®.
Unlike alpine destinations defined by snow and exposed ridgelines, the Central Highlands offer a distinctly tropical mountain experience. Runners move through layers of pine forests, dense jungle, cloud-covered ridges, and primary forests, where altitude, humidity, and rapidly changing weather create a constantly evolving challenge.
The region is shaped by four iconic mountains — LangBiang, Elephant Mountain, Pinhatt, and Bidoup — each representing a different face of the Highlands. Together they form a trail network that combines runnable forest paths, steep jungle climbs, technical single tracks, rocky sections, and panoramic ridgelines.
At the heart of this landscape lies Tuyen Lam Lake, surrounded by pine-covered hills and forest trails, while Xuan Huong Lake reflects the cultural and historical identity of Dalat itself. Beyond the terrain, runners experience a region shaped by generations of indigenous K’Ho communities, local legends, and a unique blend of Vietnamese and French heritage.
Here, every climb reveals a different ecosystem, every ridge opens a new perspective, and every trail tells a story rooted in both nature and culture.
LANGBIANG
The highest and most iconic mountain in Dalat, LangBiang stands as both a natural landmark and a cultural symbol of the Central Highlands.
For runners, LangBiang delivers long climbs, exposed ridgelines, changing weather conditions, and sweeping views across the plateau. The mountain is also deeply connected to the legendary love story of K’Lang and H’Biang, whose names gave rise to LangBiang itself. For generations of indigenous communities, the mountain has remained a sacred place where nature, identity, and tradition converge.
ELEPHANT
Known locally as Nui Voi, Elephant Mountain offers a more rugged and remote side of the Highlands.
Dense forest canopy, muddy jungle sections, and long.
PINHATT
Often referred to as a pair of “twin peaks,” Pinhatt stands quietly beside Tuyen Lam Lake. From its summit, the entire lake unfolds below, offering one of the most scenic viewpoints in the region. The terrain combines forest trails and open sections, creating a balanced yet technical experience.
BIDOUP
Part of Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, Bidoup represents the wildest and most untouched terrain of the region. With dense primary forests and higher elevation, this area is known for its biodiversity and technical trails, offering a raw and immersive highland experience.
TUYEN LAM LAKE
Surrounded by pine forests and rolling hills, Tuyen Lam Lake serves as the central landscape of the race. Its calm surface contrasts with the rugged terrain around it, creating a setting that is both peaceful and expansive.
XUAN HUONG LAKE
Located in the heart of Da Lat, Xuan Huong Lake reflects the city’s more gentle and accessible side. With open pathways and a relaxed atmosphere, it connects daily life with the natural identity of the highlands.
